About me

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Umut Yanardağ is a faculty member at the Department of Social Work, Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University, where he has been serving since 2018. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work from Hacettepe University, a Master’s degree in Human Rights from Maltepe University, and a Ph.D. in Social Work from Hacettepe University. Prior to his academic career, he worked as a social worker in various institutions under the Ministry of Family and Social Services and the Ministry of Health in Ankara, Istanbul, and Burdur. He was awarded the title of Associate Professor in December 2020. His research interests include macro social work, child welfare, digital and environmental social work, migration, trauma-informed care, and ethics in social work practice.

Dr. Yanardağ is actively involved in academic production and public engagement through digital media. He is the founder and producer of “Sosyal Hizmet TV” and the “Sosyal Çalışma Podcast,” and coordinates the innovative field-based supervision project “Shupervizyon.” He has contributed to several national and international research networks and NGOs, focusing on promoting interdisciplinary collaboration in social work. In addition to his academic pursuits, he continues his education in the Music Technologies Department at the State Conservatory of Turkish Music and maintains an active interest in chess, cinema, and sports. He is married and the proud father of Firuze.
